The end of June is often a busy time for Nanuet Community Ambulance. As the weather warms up, the call volume from 911 calls increases, but it also becomes busier for a much happier reason. Members of the Nanuet Community Ambulance put together extra crews for High School Graduations. Thursday, June 21st, seven members of Nanuet came together to staff 2 ambulance crews, and a walking crew at Clarkstown South. Due to extreme heat, the school had to move their ceremony back to 8pm. Fortunately, this did not deter members from reorganizing their day/evening to provide a safe ceremony. Because of the heat, Nanuet also decided it would be in the best interest of graduates and spectators to call on neighboring Spring Hill Ambulance to also provide an additional ambulance for transport, should anyone become sick or hurt. This proved beneficial, as all of the crews on scene did provide some sort of care for heat-related emergencies. Early the following week, on Sunday, the 24th, members also converged at Nanuet Senior High School to provide medical coverage for their graduates and spectators. Fortunately, the weather was far more cooperative, and no one required transportation to an emergency department. Nanuet Community Ambulance wishes to thank the Clarkstown Police Department for their additional resources at Clarkstown South, ensuring the EMS crews had adequate hydration and cooling between patient care. Also, to the West Nyack Fire Department at Clarkstown South, and Nanuet Fire Department at Nanuet Senior High School for their proud display of the American Flag throughout both ceremonies. Finally, a special thank you to all of the members that took part in these standbys. Nanuet Community Ambulance is pleased to congratulate our 2012 High School Graduates: Abbey Murphy, Zachary Ringer, and Eric Stone from Clarkstown South; Darnelle Guerrier, Katie Mitts, and Kim Mitts from Nanuet Senior High; and Tim Nowicki from Don Bosco Prep! |
